Kells Road Race 2010 PDF Print E-mail

The Kells Road Race took place over the weekend (16th July to 18th July).  Sunday's racing had a very sombre atmosphere due to the death of a rider from Armagh, Stephen Larkin.  The crash happened at around 5.20pm on the Saturday evening during practice on the 16th year of the Kells Road Race.

It is with deep sadness that on Saturday 17th July, Stephen Larkin died in a tragic accident during the practice session for the 401-750cc Support Race.  Stephen was 27 years old and came from Armagh. This is the second fatal accident to happen at the Kells Road Race in the last two years where they had an unblemished record for 14 years. Last July, 32-year-old Padraig Campbell died, also in a practice session.Kells Road Race

Stephen was brought to Beaumont Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Our sincere condolences to his wife Katherine, father Gerry and brother Michael.

Due to severe weather conditions, the Sunday racing was first suspended at 1pm followed by it being cancelled.
