Local residents in the new development at The Cairns, Crossakiel, have expressed concern over the quality and service provided by the builders, Loughcourt Ltd. Residence started to move in late last year (2005), and a year on, most, if not all of the houses are still waiting on work to be carried out or finished. Residence cannot understand why Loughcourt Ltd have not finished the existing houses and carrying on building the remaining houses. Although Loughcourt Ltd have been understanding and have carried out work on the existing houses when asked, on occasion residence have had to ask a number of times before something was done. Although Paul & Tom (builders) have been accommodating to the residence, the attitude of some of the contractors that Loughcourt Ltd have hired seem to lack "customer service" and on occasion, the quality of the work has been sub-standard. One of the main complaints received from residence relates to all the "extra" charges that were not mentioned to them when they originally purchased the house. This is directed more at the selling agent than Loughcourt Ltd themselves. Extra's like:- Outside lights, aerial sockets, telephone sockets. The gardens where also supposed to be landscaped but this turned out to be top soil leveled out with grass seed thrown on top. We hope that Loughcourt Ltd will make every effort to rectify all the outstanding issues raised by individual residence. Update 27/5/2007 We have heard from a number of residence that there are still outstanding issues with phase one of the build in the Cairns. Promises have been made by Loughcourt Ltd to rectify these problems, however, at this moment in time these issues are still outstanding.
